Explore the country downtown at Food Aid and Mayor’s Rural Expo

Mayor Jim Watson and Michael Maidment, Executive Director of the Ottawa Food Bank, will co-host this year’s Mayor’s Rural Expo and 13th Annual Food Aid fundraiser BBQ on Friday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event celebrates rural Ottawa while raising money in support of the Ottawa Food Bank’s Food Aid program.

Join in this fun event for all ages at City Hall, where this year’s highlights include:

  • $10 BBQ lunch by The Works from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Live performance by the local band Southbound Boots at noon
  • Celebrity cow-milking competition at 12:15 p.m.
  • Vendor show including farmers, artisans, festivals and organizations promoting rural goods and attractions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The expo booths will be located at Marion Dewar Plaza and inside City Hall at Jean Pigott Place.

This event is included in the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ 2017 annual conference program, with up to 100 municipal leaders from across Canada expected to attend.
