Ottawa– Work will commence today on phase two of the Orléans watermain link, which involves watermain installation generally along the north side of Highway 174, between Montreal Road and Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard.
Additional work will take place along Youville Drive between Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard and St. Joseph Boulevard, and along Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard between St. Joseph Boulevard and Fortune Drive. During the construction period, vehicular traffic can expect short access delays at times. Lane reductions are expected on Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard during off-peak hours. There will also be lane reductions on Youville Drive.
Additional work will include some culvert rehabilitation along the Transitway, between Hurdman Station and Riverside Drive, and on Highway 174 between Montreal Road and Canaan Road.
Detours will be signed to guide vehicular and cyclist traffic. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the construction period. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.
Once completed, the Orléans watermain link will improve the reliability of the water supply to the community and increase transmission capacity to accommodate future urban growth.
The Orléans Watermain Link East Project is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
