City Hall summer activities takes its first step with Nordic Walk

Ottawa– The 2014 summer activities at City Hall will be kicking off with a free Nordic Walk from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 at Marion Dewar Plaza. This is the first of four walking events planned this summer. 

The Nordic Walk is presented by the University of Ottawa Heart Institute’s Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation Outreach Team. The session will begin with a 15-minute workshop showing the techniques and highlighting the health benefits, followed by a 1.5 to 2 km walk. 

Nordic Walk poles will be available for free on a first-come, first-serve basis, starting at 11:45 a.m. 

The other walking events planned this summer include: 

  • Fitness and competitive walking on Tuesday, July 8
    (Presented by Bytown Walkers Club de marche)
  • Chi walking on Tuesday, August 12
    (Presented by Dr. Barry Bruce, Physician, Certified Senior Chi Running and Chi Walking Instructor)
  • Walk with Dan Rubinstein on Tuesday, September 9
    (Author of Born to Walk) 

The walking series is one of many planned events for the 2014 City Hall summer activities. Check ottawa.ca for more information on the walking series and all the listings of the free summer activities for you and your family. 

While at City Hall, you can also visit the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame and the Barbara Ann Scott exhibit. It is truly a people place for all seasons.
