The Finance and Economic Development Committee today received an update on the Confederation Line light rail transit system. The Committee was informed that the Rideau Transit Group has confirmed that the construction schedule has shifted due to the June 2016 sinkhole. As a result, the City expects service to the public to begin later in November 2018.
The Committee approved the list of infrastructure renewal projects for tax-supported assets, including roads, sidewalks, multi-use pathways, parks and buildings across the city. Funding for these renewal projects would come from the additional $10 million approved by Council as part of the 2018 Budget.
The Committee also approved the appointment of three new members to the Kanata West, Wellington West and Bank Street Business Improvement Areas.
Items approved at today’s Finance and Economic Development Committee meeting will be considered by City Council on Wednesday, February 14.
