Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Diane Deans, Chair of the Community and Protective Services Committee, will be releasing the Royal Swans onto the Rideau River. This year marks two special milestones – Canada’s 150th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the original six pairs of Royal Swans gifted to the City of Ottawa by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in celebration of Canada’s Centennial year in 1967.
