The City’s Planning Committee today approved revisions to the flood-plain boundary in the Mer Bleue community, based on new information received from the South Nation Conservation Authority.
The revisions affect vacant lands that were set aside for development in the 2006 Mer Bleue Community Design Plan. According to the policies set out in that plan, development could occur on these lands only upon completion of engineering studies and subsequent updates to the flood-plain mapping.
That work has been completed and the Planning Committee approved the removal of a holding provision, allowing development of those lands to proceed as envisioned in the 2006 Community Design Plan.
In addition, the Senhor Santo Christo Church at 1100 Kenaston Street could soon see new construction after the Committee today approved a request to add a dwelling unit onto the existing place of worship.
Items approved at today’s Planning Committee will go to City Council on Wednesday, June 28.
