Ottawa– The City of Ottawa invites residents to celebrate National Tree Day on Wednesday, September 21 by learning more about the connection between their own health and our urban forests. Healthy Trees, Healthy City will feature Councillor David Chernushenko, Chair of the City’s Environment Committee, Gillian Connelly, Manager, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention with Ottawa Public Health, and guest speaker, Professor Marc Berman, a psychologist from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Berman will present his research demonstrating that people who live in neighbourhoods with a higher density of trees report significantly better health. The event will feature the opening of PhotoSynthesis 2, a Tree Fest Ottawa photography exhibit.

Date:    Wednesday, September 21

Time:  6 to 8 p.m. (presentation at 7 p.m.)
Location: Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park
1525 Princess Patricia Way

This event is brought to you in partnership with Tree Fest Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health, and is part of the City’s Wildlife Speaker Series. Admission is free.
