Ottawa– To accommodate realignment of Riverside Drive as part of the Hospital Link project, one lane in each direction on Riverside Drive, from 500 metres south of Frobisher Drive to 200 metres north of Hincks Lane, will be closed from Sunday, August 7 to Labour Day, Monday, September 5.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, while cyclists will be expected to use the same lanes as motor vehicles.

These lane reductions are required so workers can complete work on the realigned Riverside Drive, just south of Frobisher Lane. Once this work is completed, Riverside Drive will return to two lanes in each direction.

Motorists should note that Old Riverside Drive has been permanently closed to traffic where the new Hospital Link crosses it. Access to Old Riverside is now via Hincks Lane or Frobisher Lane.

The Hospital Link project will provide a new link from Riverside Drive and the Transitway to the Ottawa Health Sciences Campus. This link will improve transit service to the hospital complex, including the General Campus and CHEO, and support ongoing hospital and local development. The Hospital Link is a two-lane facility with provisions for transit lanes and a multi‐use pathway. The road is expected to open in the fall of 2017.
