Ottawa– Throughout the summer there will be traffic impacts on Rideau Valley Drive South to replace a sewer and renew the roadway. Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Rideau Valley Drive South in sections from Dorrack Drive to the bridge at Stevens Creek for the duration of the construction season. Local traffic will be maintained but general traffic is advised to avoid the area is possible.

This lane reduction is needed to allow rehabilitation of the roadway and storm sewer, and to facilitate installation of a large storm water management structure. As part of this construction project, sidewalks will also be reconstructed and a new multi-use pathway will also be created near Roger Stevens Drive.

One traffic lane will remain open at all times and will be controlled by flagpersons during the contractor’s working hours. During non-working hours, signage will direct vehicles to yield to oncoming traffic.

This work is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
