City to name outdoor rink in honour of Ted Hay

Ottawa - Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Jan Harder will officially name an outdoor rink at 700 Longfields Drive Ted Hay Rink at a ceremony on Saturday, February 8.

Ted Hay was a tireless volunteer and inspirational hockey coach who had a lasting influence and impact on his community and the people who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ted devoted much of his time to sharing his love for hockey with others, particularly through coaching in the Nepean Girls Hockey Association and the Nepean Minor Hockey League. He was also active in local men’s hockey for over two decades.

Ted was also a Boy Scout leader, a volunteer on local radio stations CFRA and Majic 100, and an active participant in the annual Toy Mountain initiative.

The naming of the Ted Hay Rink was established through the City of Ottawa’s Commemorative Naming Policy.
