Ottawa – Ben Franklin Place, Mary Pitt Centre and the James Bartleman Archives and Library Materials Centre have been closed today as a precaution due to a strong natural gas odour in both buildings. The buildings will open again for normal business hours tomorrow.
Ben Franklin Place is located at 101 Centrepointe Drive. Mary Pitt Centre is located next door on 100 Constellation Crescent. The James Bartleman Archives and Library Materials Centre is located nearby at 100 Tallwood Drive.
The closure affects all other city services at these locations including the following:
• Ottawa Public Library – Centrepointe branch
• Centrepointe Theatre
• Ottawa Public Health immunization clinic
• Central branch of the City Archives.
The closure also affects over-the-counter business of the following City departments, some of which can be conducted at alternate locations:
• Committee of Adjustment
• Building Code Services
• Social Services
• Revenue
• Right of Way Permit
• Client Services
In addition, the following call centres will be closed and will reopen tomorrow:
• Revenue Branch line
• Social services application and benefits line
For those attempting to reach the Ottawa Public Health Information Line (OPHIL), please leave a message and your call will be returned.
The Ontario Provincial offences court, located at Mary Pitt Centre, is also affected by today’s closure.
